Bridgnorth

Bridgnorth is a town in Shropshire, split into two halves (High town and Low town) by the river Severn. The two halves are linked by numerous sets of steep stairways or, for the braver person (not afraid of heights like me), there is the cliff railway. Located in the Top town are the remnants of what was once Bridgnorth Castle, now nestled in a lovely park, views from which are breathtaking and a favoured spot of many, judging by the numerous benches dotted along the way.

Hawkestone Park Follies

The Follies are set in 100 acres of parkland and is a range of natural sandstone hill. You can explore all around the follies and see caves, bridges, monuments and gullies. It is quite a trek around the hills but the views from the top across Shropshire and Cheshire are spectacular. It is a real hidden gem and I’m sure I say it far too often, but it’s definitely somewhere to visit for a lovely day out.

Ludlow

Ludlow is the largest town in South Shropshire, close to the border of Wales. The town has the ruins of a medieval fortification that overlooks the River Teme. The river is a popular spot with tourists and locals, and is the location for numerous memory benches dotted along its banks.
