Leamington Spa

Not far from Stratford is Leamington Spa, a popular spa location in the 1800’s. Although the Royal Pumphouse and Baths are no longer in use as they were back in the day, Leamington is now a bustling town with high street shops, boutiques, parks and gardens.

All the benches I found in Leamington were in the gardens, and there were so many I didn’t manage to get them all, but as I always say, never a bad excuse to go back to these lovely places.

Stratford upon Avon is a tourist favourite in the heart of my home county of Warwickshire. It is most famous for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare. The Main Street is home to the house that he was born in, and is a very popular place for visitors (see gallery above for a rare photograph of the house with no tourists in sight…it has taken me more years than I’d care to remember to get that shot)

Stratford isn’t only popular for Shakespeare and the theatre though. The town is bustling, full of independent shops and the riverside is a charming spot for locals and tourists alike. There are several benches along the riverbank, with glorious views across the town, weekend marketplace and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and is clear to see why this was a cherished spot for so many people.
