National Space Centre and Abbey Pumping Station Museum
Having developed an interest in space as I’ve gotten older, the National Space Centre in Leicestershire is somewhere I’ve fancied visiting. So on a quiet Sunday with the “just coming back from holiday blues”, thought it would the perfect place to spend a morning.
The Centre has lots of exhibits to look at explaining the planets, astronauts thoughts on being in space, a 42 rocket that had been built to go into space (but never actually made it) and some items that had actually made it into space itself. There is also planetarium which shows some interesting space talks.
Somewhat unexpectedly next to the museum, there is the Abbey Pumping Station Museum. This is free to go in and I would recommend popping in if you are that way. The museum is small but there are some interesting exhibits and the pump room at the back is beautifully maintained and gives you a feeling for how the pumping station ran back when it was in use.

These benches were found just behind the museums, by the river. This was also a designated place where any faiths could come to scatter their loved one’s ashes, which is the first time i have ever seen anywhere like this. A deeply moving place x
