Perthshire

Loch Leven

Loch Leven was a stop off for us on our way back from St Andrews. The loch is the largest natural shallow water body in lowland Britain. It is surrounded by a nature reserve, and on the south side of the loch is an RSPB centre that offers great views of the loch and numerous bird hides.

We didn’t stay for long as we were on our way back to the hotel, but there is a walk all the way round the loch, which is 13 miles in length and one that I imagine would be really nice to do one day. The benches I found were on the west side of the loch, where we had great loch views, and was a perfect place to spot all the wildlife that calls the nature reserve home.

Pitlochry is another place in the heartland of Scotland which holds many happy memories for me, being a stop off for our holidays in the highlands. Nestled just off the A9, Pitlochry is a hidden gem, located on the banks of the River Tummel, surrounded by hills and dense forests. Pitlochry is also famous for its salmon ladder by the side of the Dam (although I am yet to spot any swimming through…one day!)

Pitlochry is a picture perfect Scottish town and it’s easy to see why people think fondly of it and are remembered here.
